How To Wear & Style Your Sneakers In 2013 Winter?

There’s always that one thing us girls refuse to let go regardless of season and the street styles & celebs fashion have spoken. It’s the sneakers ladies! The comfy chic Tom boy-ish shoes were our fashion crush all throughout 2012 Spring & Summer and somehow we can’t part with these uber cool, urban yet quite feminine style staples. I know just last season FashionTag peeked into this trend (click here to read), but still it’s impossible not to notice how stubborn this style is, and since some of the girls have asked me to do a post on how to wear sneakers in winter… here we are.

Basically ladies I think these shoes look good with almost anything if you style it right. Trousers – stick to skinny. Go for jeans, leggings, sequined, leather, printed and pair them with feminine tops to get a sophisticated look by clashing the styles, or keep them in the same range to get a grunge rock vibe. Skirts and shorts give an edgy urban look and dresses look quite girly especially topped with a cool coat or leather jacket. Here are a few looks I’ve put together for you…

Designers too have given us a few impossible-to-resist choices as if to make our lives harder, right? Isabel Marant and her fabulous wedge sneakers are my absolute favorites and they just seem to make dressing up more fun, easy and simple. The wedge sneakers look great with skinny jeans, skirts, shorts (with tights for cold season), any top will do and as for outwear go for coats, parkas, leather jackets and even waist length faux-fur ones. It’s like wearing heels but staying all sporty. For the punk’ish chicks there are loads of studded, spiked converse sneakers that look stunning with cut-offs and black tights or leather leggings and a slouchy top. A beanie and huge scarf to keep you warm in style will put the exclamation point in that. Christian Louboutin has some great such sneakers that make me ditch heels altogether. Whether you go for low-tops or high-tops is of no importance, what matters is that you should encourage you rebel Tom-boy-ish chic persona to keep wearing these snickers in any occasion. For those of you who have a casual dress code at work you can wear any version of these shoes (chucks, dunks, vans) with skinny trousers, T-shirt or a classic blouse and a blazer on top. It’s an edgy smart look. Quite professional too, as it screams confidence without trying. For inspiration pay more attention to street styles or peek into celebs fashion choices. Nicole Richie masters this trend and I’ve seen her wearing sneakers and looking very smart and cool. Rihanna always goes for the Tom boy look and styles her sneakers with loose tops, large trousers, piles of accessories, or sometimes exactly the opposite: skirts or uber feminine dresses. So it’s possible ladies. As I always like to say… there are no rules in fashion just blunt self expression, freedom of creation and loads of fun dressing up. A fashion tip: we need to not take ourselves too seriously and enjoy the daily  fashion ride.

  1. I don’t get it, how do you see inside my brain? I wear my converse almost everyday (just part of my lifestyle) and just yesterday I was wondering if I should keep wearing them or switch for winter (not kidding). Pictures awesome as always!
