50 Shades Of Sunnies…

Well not 50, but enough to get us fashion confused over what sunglasses to choose. What styles are in, and how do you pick yours? Do you stick with it or not? And if you were to choose one, yes ONE type of sunglasses to wear for the rest of your life, which one would it be? When it comes to sunglasses I always feel as if Trends are a bit overrated and it’s not what’s IN one season as much as what looks good on you or what you love to wear. It can be a retro style (that no one else is doing) or even 3 seasons ago hot stuff. Who gives a crap if they’re so last Tuesday as long as you love them, right? Yet… let’s indulge into the Trend Shades for a tiny bit… What is hot for 2013 Summer? I suppose the retro sunglasses, read Cat-Eye Shades or even super crazy styles, cause of the ’60′s revival you know. With the 90′s trend come the round shades… not my faves, but they do look amazing on some. And then there are the rest of the sunnies that were pretty big in the last seasons, and guess what? Personally I’m not ready to part ways with either of them: Wayfarer & Aviator Sunglasses. Yep… they’re still my faves. And now dolls let’s see each and every one of them and take sides. Whether or not sunglasses should be chosen according to face shape is up to you. I have this theory (I know how crazy right?) that everyone looks good with any type of sunglasses. Sure they can look crazy, funky, classic, rock’n roll, edgy et all, but, a statement or not… they will look great. Anyway, that’s just what I think. Let’s start off with my all time favorite sunglasses: The Wayfarer Shades. They are the sunglasses of my teenage years, those grunge ’90′s when everyone in Beverly Hills 90210 was spotted with them, and every rock star had a pair on for the cool’ness or to hide from the paps. Today they are a nostalgic reminiscence of that, with a bit of poshness to them, and a tiny bohemian vibe. I just feel they always add a bit of edginess and rebelliousness to a look & an outfit, without making it over the top.

The Wayfarer Sunglasses (read above) Then come the Aviator Sunglasses. For me it’s always a battle between these 2: Aviator vs Wayfarer. I can literally never come to terms with my fashion taste on this one. Not that I have to or anything, I mean there are enough sunny days to rock over 150 shades of glasses… I just like to dramatize a little bit. You know for fashion’s sake

Aviator Sunglasses The Retro Sunglasses – they will always be in. Always fit any type of face. On any occasion, at any age. The Round Sunglasses – these can be a bit tricky as they will not fit all face shapes (contrary to my ”theory”), but if you can pull it off, and strut you hot stuff in them… go for it. They’ve got that hippy retro vibe to them that takes you away to those 60′s Rock Festivals when it was all about the peace and the music. The Funky Shades – now these ones will always be hot, just because there will always be a nut to rock them and look fabulous enough to start a trend. The funky shades are pretty cool and fun so if you’ve got it… flaunt it! Enough rambling and scrolling through options. Let’s decide on ONE Type of Sunglasses. What’s you Shades Style?

Why It’s OK To Wear BLACK This Summer?

That Black & White is The Trend this season (click here for more) is no news flash to anyone, but wait… can we assume that Black (and black alone) is a Trend this season? Can we talk about a Summer in Black? I’m sure a summer in White for that matter is way more appropriate, hence the tons of white dresses and all the clothing attire in retail this season. Yet… black has never been so cool and OK to pull off in Summer, as it is in 2013. Well… perhaps apart from those 90′s grunge times, which, anyway are sort of back, and it all probably is a slight reminiscence of those alternative moods and anti-fashions. I would presume (unable to contain my excitement, DOH) that due to a lot of fashion signs happening out there (PUNK met gala, Punk/Rock/Grunge Street Styles, loads of non-colors on the catwalk for this season, loads of dark tones) – it is safe to say that in 2013 it will be OK (actually cool) to wear Black in the middle of Summer. OMG… what took you so long, Trends? Sure it may be a bit uncomfortable if you’re living in desert like temperatures, and the world will probably risk looking like teenage outcasts, but – don’t be hasty just yet. Think about how classy and posh Black is. Or how you can never go wrong with a black dress, a black swimsuit (since we’ve got summer on our minds) or a black top. So, Black for 2013 Summer is a blessing to some and a drag to others. For the latter ones – breathe now… all you color lovers! Keep your summer’ish style intact while doing the black trend, by simply adding a hint of darkness to your look. Trending after all is about adapting it and making it your own, right? Go for bags, shoes, nails, jewellery, tops or bottoms. No rules… remember Having a green pass to don Black in Summer gives us tons of options in regards to looks and styles we can pull off. Black is versatile and so the options are limitless. A black dress can look classic with heels, can look edgy with boots, boho-chic with sandals, sporty-chic with tennis shoes… and so on. A black suit is classy but can turn to edgy when paired with statement accessories, or a funky top. Black can take you to the office and make you look like a top manager, or place you later on in a bar looking like the most hipster of them all. It will never be dated, never be inappropriate, never be too much or too less. Always easy to dress up or down. Sophisticated and chic when you want to and rebel & edgy when you feel like it. With the grunge trend still on (click here for more) Black can make you look like a reinvented cool version of yourself from back in the day. Cool, effortless, rock’n roll, with that rebel without a cause hint. Still not feeling it? But nevertheless refusing to sit back on this one? Do your own thing then, and throw in just one black item. I know what you’re thinking… what is up with this title? Crazy huh? It’s just that ponytails always make me think of fairy-tales, rainbows and all the girly stuff. And you know what? There is something very child-like about this hairstyle so I might not be that far off So yeah… today we talk bout hair! Every now and then a little going back to basics is the best thing to do in terms of fashion or looks, and the Ponytail Hairstyle is just that – a great way to keep it simple while looking fabulous. The Ponytail is probably the most effortless and easy hairstyle to do, and it seems to be having a huge comeback for the past years or so. Did it ever lose the spotlight though? From catwalks to street styles, to red carpet events, to fashion editorials or lazy Sundays in the park – ponytails are the stars of hairstyles. So what is it about the simple pulled back hairdo that has us all coming back for more? Or never getting enough? Besides its easiness I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it basically fits any face shape and it’s versatile. Ponytail Styles are a dime a dozen and so are the occasions you can rock this look at. Not to mention how amazing they look with great earrings (simple or statement) and great makeup (be it eyes or lips focused). As nothing related to fashion is ever so easy… the Ponytail too comes with its style headaches, and trust me, they happen when you got the least of time and the most important occasion. Cause yeah… Ponytails can be styled in so many ways, yet if we’re to leave aside all the drama (that, let’s be honest dolls, we kinda love, it’s part of fashion, right?) all those ways to pony up your hair are a blessing! So there’s the High Ponytail - which will probably make your neck look longer and spotlight your features. It looks amazing with natural makeup, super glam eyes or bold lips. Perfect for day & night, for the gym and office too, for that pretentious cocktail party or dinner with family it’s the easiest and most classic way to look nice and put together. For an extra fashion drama add some bling earrings, or keep it simple with tiny cute studs.The High Ponytail can be styled with your hair combed back, with a side-part, center-part, and can be sleek or messy. The Low Ponytail is a slight more elegant and classic (or proper) version of this hairstyle. With a side-part, center-part, sleek or messy it goes with absolutely anything, easy to do and pull off in any situation and for any face shape. Again, glam it up or keep it simple with your kind of earrings. The Messy Ponytail be it high or low – is the perfect way to get through a crazy bad hair day. Who says you need to tame your hair? Pull it back in what looks like a loose ponytail and you’ll probably get that fab boho-chic look that everyone will be jealous of. Why Is Kim Kardashian Bullied Over Pregnancy Weight Gain?

You know when you read those news or subjects that don’t normally appeal to you, yet you feel as if you can’t sit aside on that that one, just cause it feels unjust? Do we as bloggers, journalists or writers have a duty to tell it like it is and raise awareness on a topic regardless of how silly it may appear to some? I should think so, to be honest with you, and I know I might get the raised eyebrow or effing on this one, but have the media and us readers stooped so low that we embrace bulling for the sake of an extra quid & attention? When it comes to the most talked about and infamous celeb USA has given us – Kim Kardashain – the world has definitely split into 2. Some love her and defend all about her: beauty, style, looks, clothes, family, character, actions etc, while others are utterly disgusted and genuinely hate the exact same things. Ever since Kim has announced her pregnancy though… all this frenzy has gone to a whole new level. Tabloids and TV shows, Social Media channels are all bitching and bulling the poor woman over… how fat she has become since being pregnant. Wait. What? And given all this, she’s doing a pretty good job defending her own shit and making quite a point for herself and why not call it like it is, for all the pregnant women. I mean had she been a non celebrity or an all-around-loved public figure would we still have this ridiculous conversation? I wonder… A while ago she was on Jay Leno and seemed at a very happy place in her life, which at the end of the day is what matters for any person, let alone a pregnant one. And though I’m not Kim’s biggest fan, I do get caught up sometimes in my guilty pleasure of watching ‘Keeping up with the Kardashains‘ and smiling over their little dramas. I love the family bond these guys have (reminds me of my own big family) the fantastic clothes, great houses, hair, makeup… Hey I’m a girl and though they might embody a bit too much of everything… I throw a glimpse every now and then. When & if there’s something I do not like… I do what all those haters should – don’t watch, don’t care!

Of course it all started with the most ridiculous yet well masked excuse ever: her pregnancy style and how horrendous she dresses that posh belly, or how she chooses to climb on those too-high-inappropriate heels, or wear uber tight dresses or skirts… As if there’s a rule on how one should dress when being pregnant, other than what makes you feel good.

Constantly scrutinized over her fashion choices Kim Kardashian‘s pregnancy style has become like a worldwide issue. What the fuck people? So she loves tight dresses, leather, glam outfits and hot heels. Good for her. While I’m a bit more edgy and love comfort I hope to keep my fashion persona intact and my razzmatazz going while pregnant. Some women go for makeup, hair, nails, accessories… some love it all. Sure she’s had quite a few fashion faux-pas, and that Kanye acting like her stylist thing… not sure anymore if it’s the best decision. He did make her give up her extensions and loosen up a bit makeup and hairstyle wise, but as Khloe once put it ”Kim is a glamour puss” and she owns that style. A lot has been said of course over her pregnancy fashion choices and how ridiculous some were. So I took some time to have a look at some of these supposedly worst dressed scenarios. And you know what? While I did come across a few bad ones, overall Kim is looking beautiful, posh as always & happy. Sure a bit too much at times… but it sure doesn’t call for the bitch talk. Aaaand… contrary to what some may think (myself included) she is not always that groomed? I’ve seen her pregnant style in loose dresses, tops, sports attire… so there you have it. Anyway… a little debate never hurt anyone, so let’s have a look and tell me what you think about Kim Kardashian’s Pregnant Style? Is it a ‘who cares’, ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ situation? I wonder, are all the style faux -pas then & media scrutinizing due to her own fashion confusion or insecurities? Was it her own desire to prove the world she owns it while preggers on the red carpet - what pushed her to befriend Anna Wintour? Well… Kanye must have had a why behind that, and her wish to attend the Met Gala clouded her good reasoning (fashion wise). Whether Wintour tipped her on the sofa look or not, hardly bares any importance anymore, though we all know by now she was just a tiny bit subjected to The Devil’s own agenda. How? Well… Vogue’s list on the 2013 Met Gala best dressed, for starters? Oh no they didn’t! Kanye sure made it (doh) while Kim was bluntly and quite obviously cut out of the photo! Trying to get the last word through Anna? You just had to have the big laughter at the end, right? Some applauded this, justifying it all on Kim Kardashian’s lack of style and how it was high time someone put her in her place. But wasn’t it a bit too cruel? In a time when bulling is taking its victims too fast, what example are we setting by bulling a pregnant woman over how fat she is, using the fashion pretense? At the end of the day the media is still going to make a big deal out of everything but aren’t there a few boundaries that should’t be crossed? What do you think?

How About Knuckle Rings?

When it comes to piling on jewellery or sacrificing an ear lob for that way too heavy & huge, but oh-so-fab statement earring – I’m all for it! Nothing is ever too much or hurts at all when it comes to fashion. High uncomfortable shoes? Yeah, I’ll take them. Too tight jeans or too loose to barely stay on, thank God for that cool belt? Yeah, I’ll take those too. Too many rings, necklaces & bracelets? There’s no such thing. For the past year or so, though, big rings have taken the backseat for those super thin small ones, which, guess what? Are so tiny they don’t even fit properly. Unless you call your finger knuckles the proper place. Errrr… well yeah. Why not? Cause that’s what Knuckle Rings are: tiny thin rings in gold or silver that are so femininely and sweet resting on finger knuckles & subtly adorning your look by adding just the right bling. Can’t believe I’m saying this (jewellery wise) but… sometimes (just sometimes) less is more. How to wear them? Just casually throw them on your knuckles and rock them with absolutely any outfit from sporty chic to super glam. From office to parties. They look sophisticated and chic. For extra sweetness opt for those tiny ones with a simple heart or flower shape. Or if you like to keep it super simple just go with plain circles. Can’t give up on bold pieces just yet? Breathe… knuckle rings can be piled on, and also come in statement designs that will make you look super posh or quite rock’n roll for that matter depending on what you’re going for. With a funky nail polish on, your hands will look like they’re having a party all by themselves, and trust me… they will be getting all the attention as you sip your drink, tuck your hair behind your ear or blow someone a kiss or a hello. Who gives a crap what you’re wearing when your fingers look like rock stars? And speaking of rockstars – this knuckle rings trend (for me) is a reinvented and more glam version of a punk/grunge look. OK, so it might be a bit of a stretch but still. Aaaaand… one more thing, speaking of stars this time, celebrities are loving this jewellery trend. A lot. My celeb reference? Drums please. Rihanna! Doh. I think she was among the first to rock the knuckle look or (I might be wrong on this one, so please feel free to contradict) the one who actually started this craze. I absolutely love how she wears them all the time with her super glam nail and tattoos. On a sweeter more feminine take on the celeb knuckle ring trend, Candice Swanepoel is the picture perfect of subtle sophisticated hands. So lovelies, what do your think about this Knuckle Rings Trend? You loving it or not? Are you a fan of thin rings or bold ones (on knuckles)? Do you love em in gold or silver? We keep talking about fashion trends in terms of accessories, clothing items, sunglasses, hats, shoes, bags, and the list goes on…instead, lets talk about those who bring fashion in our closets, particularly those who make women walk with their heads up, even when they don’t feel like doing it. You guessed, I am talking about shoe designers.

The one I chose to write about in today’s article was born in a country famous for its cheese, champagne and of course FASHION! Celebrities like Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Blake Lively, Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria, Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Kate Moss adore his creations. For three years his shoes were on top of the Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI)…yes, there is such an organization in New York that conducts research on the luxury industry called The Luxury Institute. In order to make you understand how advanced the fashion industry is, let me also inform you that there also exists a Fashion Law Institute, which is the world’s first center dedicated to law and the business of fashion.

But let’s get back to our designer If you still don’t know who I am talking about let me give you a last hint: the red-lacquered soles are his signature. Yeah! I’m talking about Christian Louboutin.

Working as a freelance designer, Louboutin designed women’s shoes for Chanel, Yves SaintLaurent, and Maud Frizon. For a short period of time he worked as a landscape designer, but then realized that his passion involves shoes and opened a his first shoes salon in Paris, in 1991. Since then his boutiques spread worldwide and now Christian Louboutin’s brand counts almost 50 stores with flagships in all world’s fashion capitals.

Decorated with jeweled straps, bows, feathers, patent leather, lace and rhinestones Louboutin’s shoes are famous for their elegance , sex appeal and classy touch.

Punk Party At The Met Gala!

This year’s Met Gala sure had some controversy – fashion wise – with so many of you taking the Hate It or Love It side of the red carpet dresses. Was it too much? Too over the top? Too ridiculous? Or did the stars finally let their hair down on this one and got crazy style wise? I know most of you hated the looks and who can blame you/us, I mean did you see FashionTag‘s WTF Dresses list? (click here). OMG! But I have to be honest with you dolls… aside from the bad ones (which were utterly horrendous) I sort of liked the Red Carpet at the 2013 Met Gala. It was funky, crazy, edgy, fun and lots of stars chose to play up the punk look with uber wicked accessories: earrings, rings, nail art, hairdos, makeup, shoes... It’s the Oscars of the fashion lot so a little bit of weird is to be expected. Besides they’ll always gonna have the classic red carpet events for the more classy looks, right? Anyway… love it or hate it has sure got us talking about it and putting on our fashion critics hats on… so let’s just work with that. They came, they did the poses, the crazy faces, the punk & rock signs and then… they partied! And there’s nothing more delicious after a red carpet event than watching the stars backstage at an after-party. One more look at their hair & makeup and the dresses from a whole new angle. Who talked to who, who sat next to who, who photo bombed who? (we all know by now Jennifer Lawrence did it again lol. click here) Who got drunk? Who looked better or worse? Did Madonna try too hard and ended up looking ridiculous? Was SJP too over the top with that hat and dress? By the way, did you see the table setting and the food? Don’t get posher then this… Oh… and speaking of food (well sort of) how about that Alexa Chung’s kinky cream finger, Gerard Buttler was sucking on? I wonder what his gorgeous Romanian model, Madalina Ghenea thought about it? Anyway… the Brit It girl has got nothing on the Latina looking model. Sorry Chung! Speaking of the Brits… they sure stuck together backstage and stayed true to their party animal cool looking personas: Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Alexa Chung et all. JLo was having the time of her life dancing the night away next to her hot young man. She looked stunning. My favorite by far. Gisele Bundchen stuck close to her gorgeous man and looked super hot. Though I’ll tell you something about the Brazilian model: men seem to think she looks like a man!!! Wait what? Just today one of my lovely readers pointed out to me that, when seeing her, her hubby said she looked quite masculine. Funny? My BF and quite a few other people over time have pointed that out. What do you think? Enough celeb gossip for a while now and let’s just wrap this up while the mean comments are still OK. I’ll just leave you with backstage pics. Met Gala 2013 Red Carpet: Best & Worst! Who’s Your Fave?

Not too long ago I was bitching about covering red carpet events, though nobody held a gun to my head, and now here I am, overly excited to share with you last night’s Red Carpet Best & Worst looks from the 2013 MET GALA. I know, can I be more inconsistent? I guess it just comes to show you how every now and then we get an urge to love and hate those uber expensive gowns and gossip over who nailed it or not. Nothing wrong with it. Oh… and one more thing: all that Anna Wintour raining on Vivienne Westwood‘s parade talk (read the whole story here), plus the much gossiped about Kim Kardashian & Kanye West dinner at the Devil’s residence has indeed stirred my curiosity just a tiny bit. So just to set the record straight: fashion’s guru – Anna Wintour – banned an homage to the Queen of Punk, Vivienne Westwood, on the very MET GALA Punk: Chaos To Couture edition, and to top that cherry allowed Kim K to attend after banning her last year. Wintour, I guess somebody’s got a case of vagary. Or could it be that the Triple K’s needed some fashion advice? Which is not remotely an inappropriate question given the sofa looks on both Wintour & Kardashian. The 60 year old diva probably had to wear that Chanel dress (just to spite Westwood if not for anything else) and even she could tell it will not be her style night… so ‘who shall I call to make me look less stupid‘. Ding! And so the story unfolds with a beautiful Kim Kardashian draping herself in granny prints to sort of match the sofa & curtains on a spinster’s cottage in the woods. Why Kim? Why? And those gloves? And that Angelina leg? OMG. Don’t get me wrong now, I am not critiquing her pregnant style or whatev. I think the media should just back the fuck off and stop calling her fat. She’s pregnant! But she so could have gone for another look last night… Anyway. Enough about these two. When a friend of mine said to me just a few weeks ago, on a shopping spree which ended in me crushing yet again over spikes and studs, that the rock & punk attire is so last Tuesday I was like talk to the hand girlfriend. (1) Contrary to what some might think, with me always dropping the trend reports all over the place, I do not necessarily feel that one should take trends literally, as much as adapt them to their personal style. (2) I tend to disagree with her on this one. OK, so we might have had just a bit too much of spikes and studs (though I honestly do not believe it) but I think they’re still IN and if this PUNK: Chaos to couture MET GALA is not a clear sign, I don’t know what is. And indeed it was a cool display of classy meets Punk on the red carpet. Did you see Madonna? Wherever you stand on that one you gotta give the woman kudos for pulling off a total punk look a la Vivienne Westwood. It was shocking and very Madonna’ish. So was the red carpet at the 2013 Met Gala invaded by PUNK fashion: mohawks, chains, studs, pins, spikes, leather, lace, black et all? I should think so… it was pretty edgy, but then again the Met Gala tends to be a bit more adventurous. Let’s get our hands dirty dolls and start taking sides and cutting into fashion’s fresh ‘meat’. Who owned it? Who was desperately seeking attention? Who was OK? And who are we still debating over?

Best Dressed – 2013 MET GALA Red Carpet

Quite a few ladies nailed it this year with my favorites being: Blake Lively in that beautiful powdered blue & dramatic black dress. The exact image of how a hint of punk can be added to a perfectly classy dress. Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci – simply stunning! Loved her hair and makeup too, actually I’m in love with this hairstyle that’s been going on for a while now: side swept/half shaved/side braided hair. Amanda totally rocked it. I guess a bit of Johnny Depp never hurt anyone Jennifer Lopez looked fabulous in her tight fitted uber sexual kinda gown, with an edgy iguana print and badass hair style. Sienna Miller went for rock’n roll as well in her white innocent classy gown topped by a grunge leather jacket and some punk’ish hair & ear accessories. Though they might have been a little too over the top I actually loved Nicole Richie‘s white dress & hair (thought it was wicked) & Coco Rocha‘s funky cool dress. Not for everyone, but she did pull it off brilliantly. Cara Delevingne was just her cool old self in that gorgeous Burberry punk black studded gown. (sigh). The queen of fashionistas Sarah Jessica Parker went all the way and gave us all a ‘this is how you do it bitch’ lesson. If anyone could nail a crazy Phillip Treacy hat and over-the-top Giles Deacon dress at such an event, it has got to be SJP. Watch and weep. Amanda Seyfried looked amazing in her dramatic feminine busy printed dress, and Emmy Rossum (one of my faves) really mastered the decadent innocent look in that white crispy dress perfectly matched with dramatic earrings and heavy makeup. Stunning combo. Same vibe I got from Mara Rooney in her white frilled punk zippers dress. Other 2 ladies I loved were: Minka Kelly (fabulous and dramatic) and Jennifer Lawrence (simply classic with a bit of retro punk to it). And then there were the classic black & white dresses that you can never go wrong with on the red carpet. OK Dresses – 2013 MET GALA 2013 Red Carpet

These ones I basically just liked. Was not impressed but cannot hold them for bad either. Well maybe except for Katie Holmes side boob situation. Ha! Joking. I loved the dress, but the side boob thing was not very posh. Emma Roberts dress was kinda great, but not best worthy, and Gisele Bundchen… mini dress? Really? We know you got a knock out body but could you please do that red dress look from the past Met Galas one more time? Just saying. Then there’s the cut out trend that Nicky Minaj is doing. And you know what? It’s not that bad. Oh, and Solange Knowles is confused yet again over what she should wear: shorts, dress, long, short? So she (again) did them all in one. And the winner of making us a tad confused and still debating over the dress, goes to… (drums please): Beyonce in her Givenchy dress. She was edgy and opulent all right, but I really don’t know if I like it or not. She’s wearing that type of dress that just makes you feel borderline crazy, one minute I hate it and one minute I’m totally digging it. Not too sure about the hair maybe (too wild and busy at the top) and the gloves. I mean I get the boots add that glam punk razzmatazz but the gloves just kill the whole idea by crowding it. What do you think? Then there’s Anne Hathaway‘s look. Wait. Is that her or Miley Cyrus? I swear that’s what I was like at first glimpse. And then I saw the boobs. Girl have you been doing some pumping? I get the same mood from her dress as from Beyonce’s… and now I’m in the I love it stage. So why not? The Miley hair? I love. And speaking of Miley… what do you think? Too much, trying too hard or just the right age and edginess in that Marc Jacobs dress? I kinda like it… Let’s see the others too and comment away. I’ll be honest with you on this one… I can hardly contain my laughter. Well OK smirk. Anna Wintour managed to not pull it off this time. Karma? Is that you? She probably thought she’ll do the table cloth look this year and fooled Kim Kardashian into doing the sofa look so they’d both look like psychedelic besties on a night out. I actually feel sorry for Kim, just because the press will not give her a tiny break on this one. Two ladies – Kate Beckinsdale & Cristina Ricci – tried doing the punk prom dress thing, but it looked a bit off key with the whole red carpet thing and age maybe. Don’t get me started on Gwyneth Paltrow though… really Gwyn? Throw-up pink is your new thing? I know pink is pretty punk in that decadent sort of way but that look and that shade on her are just wrong. WTF Dresses – 2013 MET GALA Red Carpet

And then there were those dresses that go beyond bad while making you do the double stare. One of the Olsens leads the way. Well that’s a big shocker (not). Then comes the matronly Ashley Greene who came dressed as a posh square, and Elle Fanning… WTF is that Elle? No. You will not get the age excuse on this one. And last (yeah I get embarrassed for her just by looking at it) is Cameron Diaz who did a Stella McCartney all-the-way on this one. The dress is great… but what the fuck is up with that hair color and beauty look. It’s absolutely sick. Is that cheap blonde look on purpose or what? I don’t get it. Anyway… this was fun. When it comes to statement jewellery I confess: I am hopelessly addicted. There’s just something so luxurious, effortlessly rich & sophisticated about piling on jewellery that I seem to never get enough. And don’t even get me started on statement pieces… OMG. They just add all that jazz to any outfit, glam up any look in no time, and you don’t even need to break the bank to get your hands on such a piece. My latest fashion crush? Statement Earrings! (sigh) If in the past big sparkling colored drop super glamorous earrings were a thing of the red carpet events, cocktail parties and fancy gatherings, today that’s so last Tuesday. It don’t get better than this. So if you’re thinking of donning a super extravagant pair of drop gem stone crazy colored earrings, big as your head, do it. And while you’re at it rock that shit in the morning. Crispy office shirt, pencil skirt or trousers, classic pumps – BORING. Red‘ish is for those hip pops of color and go amazing with any skin tone, emerald green drop earrings (think those worn by Angelina Jolie) are sophisticated and look fantastic on darker skin or super fair complexions. Impossible to choose? Trust me I know the feeling. Get the super funky colored exotic earrings that would make you look so chic in the most boring or basic clothes ever.

So where did all this kitsch huge earrings mania come from? Girls’ desire to be dolled up in no time? Feminine & sophisticated cravings? Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian vision on fashion & women for the past 2 seasons? Diane Von Furstenberg’s modern 70′s glamour puss rock’n roll persona that lies in all of us? Who cares… At the end of the day we’ve got the long end of the stick on this one, and are making the best of this trend, rocking the glam earrings with the loosest nonchalance ever at either 8.00 am on the tube, on our way to work, or at 3.00 am on that creepy bus ride from who knows what posh club in town. And you know what? The glam earrings look is not at all pretentious (unless you want it to be). Au contraire it can be so easily adapted to any style from that dark dirty cool grunge to the chic cleanness of a preppy look. Brilliant, right?
