Hollywood TV series ‘Mad Men’ had the whole media go mad this week as the new season begun. It all seems to point in the same direction: a new trend and fashion inspired look is right around the corner this year – The 60′s! Yes ladies and gentlemen The Retro Look is The New Look. Not that retro was ever too retro to be forgotten, if I come to think of it, was it?
Anyway… whatever those fab, conservative, sexy ‘cats’ (women) on Mad Men wear is a reference point to us all. Designers’ collections predicted this 60′s Retro craze, if you only think of Mulberry, Preen, Temperley London, Christian Dior. Or just have a look at Banana Republic launching an entire Mad Men Inspired Line and you’ll start to see the whole pic.
Ah… I can almost see it – ‘The streets will be flooded with cat eyes and kitten heels, with tossed cardigans over chilled shoulders on crispy London’ish mornings’. A new fashion revolution will rise with the past catching us up, who knows. How ironic would that be? And while we’re still on the subject – where d’you think the floral prints come from (or any prints for that matter)? Or the buns? Or Adele’s inspired look with heavy eyeliner & false lashes? The mini skirts, the monochromatic trend (by the way, stay tuned for that as I’ll cover it pretty soon)? The cardigans or kitten heels?
Still in the haze with what all this retro craze is all about? Just think of Twiggy – for a rebel approach & Ditta von Teese - for the 60′s polished look!
A sixties polished look? Black eyeliner & False Lashes. For inspiration check Lana del Rey‘s photo below and my friend & makeup artist, Ana‘s blog on beauty & makeup tips and insights!

Red Lips & delicate pastel nails that hold long cigarettes within. Plaid. Who ever said hey are outdated was so wrong! This year any street can be your own Madison Avenue!
