2011 Golden Globes Dresses. Best And Worst Dressed Celebrities

The Golden Globes are all about good movies,  high fashion and sophistication, and this year was no exception.  Better yet, it was all spiced up by Ricky Gervais’s good (or not so good) jokes made at celebs…

Anyway, the Golden Globes are usually an event with stuff to hate and love as well. Therefore, I have to say I had my share of small disappointments. For instance, Inception left with no awards!!! Hello!!! And I thought there were too many ruffles, too many one shoulder dresses and a bit color safe played. Except for a few emerald greens, some reds and blues, it was mostly reigned by nudes and pales. Tasteful though! All in all it was great to see Michael Douglas up on his feet and healthy again and Johnny Depp still rocking his looks and talent.

Best Dressed. I Loved The Look

I simply loved Emma Stone in Calvin Klein simple pink open back dress. A true example of how less is more! Emerald Green ruled the carpet thanks to beauties such as Mila Kunis in a one shoulder Vera Wang dress and the all time beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones wearing a Monique Lhuillier queen like dress, beautifully accessorized.

Eva Longoria shows how you can never go wrong in black. Though a bit sad after her divorce, she takes elegance to the top in her Zac Posen open back gown, looking her best as usual. One of my favorite ladies, Sofia Vergara stays true to her latin passionate roots and rocks in a hot and sexy Vera Wang gown. And the lady of the night, Natalie Portman, who won the best actress looked radiant and sweet. The mom to be wore a rose embelished Viktor & Rolf dress.

Worst Dressed. I Hated The Look

I know to most of you, Angelina Jolie doesn’t belong in this chart, but I simply didn’t like how she looked in her Versace long sleeved gown. It was a coragious act for her to give up her black safe outfits in the first place, but she still could have done better. I thought the cut made her no justice as she looked too serious, older and shapeless. The Gossip Girl fashionista, Leighton Meester looked plain, her Burberry dress seemed a cool pijama not fit for this event. I was so disappointed to see the beautiful Julianna Margulies looking sad in Yves Saint Laurent gown. It was definitely not a good choice for her.

And what was Halle Berry thinking? She brought the glam and the elegance to the red carpets and now? A truly uninspired look! The same goes for another beauty like Julianne Moore, who looks like a pink candy. And that’s not a compliment at her age and her status. Helena Bonham Carter… Is she trying to pull an edgy, original look? Horrible move for the red carpet.

Good & Bad Surprises

Here are some more ladies! Some looked great, some good and from some I expected so much more! Nicole Kidman, who played a memorable role in Rabbit Hole, looked so elegant and soft in her white one shoulder Prada gown. I liked her! Simple and classic! Jennifer Lopez was a bit of a disappointment for me. She is always such a trend setter and diva on the red carpet, but not last night in her Zuhair Murad too white dress. She looked a bit “Too” something,  and yet not “Too” JLo.  She should stick to her edgy sophisticated choices! Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta looked pretty and sweet, but not her best. She looks so much better in strong colors and fitted dresses. Too many ruffles I thought. Megan Fox looks hot in whatever she wears. She looked O.K., but we’ve seen her happier than this. Her Armani Prive dress is beautiful, so is she, but the chemistry is not there!

Scarlett Johansson‘s break up left her a bit “whatever” on her fashion choice, or so it appears. She was trying a retro look in Elie Saab, looking good. But I’m not feeling it! Anne Hathaway came to do her homework, or so she said (she is presenting the Oscars) and looked very nice in her Armani Pive open back dress. She’s one confident, sexy lady! I simply loved Michelle Pfeifer’s look. Her blue cobalt Roland Mouret dress fir her like a glove. A true Hollywood lady! Sandra Bullock chose a Jenny Packham dress. Not a very inspired look, but we’ll give the girl a break because she’s been through so much and still keeps it all together looking beautiful. Mandy Moore looks girlish and sweet in her blue tulle Monique Lhuillier dress. I truly like it!
